Dare to Compare: 2018 NissanAltima vs. 2018 FordFusion | Killeen, TX
If you’re in the market for a stylish, capable, and intelligent four-door sedan, you’ve likely narrowed your choices down to the 2018 Nissan Altima and 2018 Ford Fusion. Both check a lot of the boxes, but one checks them just a bit more completely: the Altima. If you’re leaning Nissan’s way and need just that little extra push, here’s what you need to know.
You want a sedan that’s got great gas mileage because it’ll save you more money in the long run and have you stopping fewer times along the way. In this respect, the 2018 Nissan Altima is tops: It returns an EPA-estimated 38 mpg, which is 4 mpg better than the Fusion. The Nissan Altima simply keeps you going for longer than the Fusion without having to stop to fill up.
The 2018 Nissan Altima is offered with a standard 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder V6, which cranks out 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. This is more power than what you’ll get with the Fusion’s standard Duratec® four-cylinder, which only returns 175 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. If you want more power from the Altima, you can opt for the 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6.
One of the most important points for comparison when it comes to sedans is passenger space. The Nissan Altima offers 40 inches of front headroom and 45 inches of front legroom, making it a more spacious choice for you and your front-seat passenger than the Fusion, which only offers 39.2 inches of headroom and 44.3 inches of legroom in the front row.
There are, of course, the intangibles. The 2018 Nissan Altima is, for our money, more stylish and impressive in terms of its styling and more nimble and responsive on the road. Ultimately, we leave it to you to decide: Stop into Bates Nissan and test out the new Altima for yourself. We think you’re gonna like the way it drives.
