Chip and Joanna Gaines are famous Waco residents, having achieved reknown for their HGTV show Fixer Upper. However, they don’t seem a whole lot like celebrities—more like just sincere and successful. It’s probably because, unlike most celebrities, these longtime Waco residents are incredibly down-to-earth. They also have real and tangible talents.
Fixer Upper is filmed in Waco. In its third season, and is gaining more viewers all of the time. The premise is simple: Chip and his wife Joanna find a house that needs a little—or a lot—of work and they fix it up. Chip handles construction duties and Joanna designs the interior. It’s an effective formula. The show is fun and the couple seems real and sincere.

The couple also owns a shop and market known as Magnolia Market. There, grain silos have been converted into a giant open market. Outside, you’ll find a host of food trucks offering diverse fare. Stroll around the garden at the northwest end of the lot. Outside, you can plays games like cornhole or throw around a football on the large and beautiful lawn. The Magnolia Market opened only recently but it has quickly become a Waco treasure.
If you love what Chip and Joanna can do to a house, they offer the opportunity to experience their work firsthand. The Magnolia House was originally intended to be featured on the Fixer Upper but the couple decided to work their magic and turn it into a vacation home instead. Book it today!
